Utah Truck Driving FAQ

If I have been convicted of drunk driving, can I still find a job in the truck driving industry?
You are disqualified from driving a truck for three years after you have been convicted of driving under the influence or while intoxicated, but can apply for a job after that three year period.

I’ve already studied for the test in Nevada, but then I moved. Is there anything different on Utah’s CDL exam?

While each state must meet the same federal requirements, there are differences in each state’s CDL exam.  You can get a Utah CDL guide to study from before you take the exam; contact your local DMV for specifics.

You must be 21 years old.

If I am moving from outside of the state, can I use my old CDL?

You must have a CDL issued from the state you are going to be living and working in.  So you will need to apply for a Utah CDL.  You will be required to take the written test and vision test but if you have a good driving record, the state may choose to waive the driving test.

What if I lose my CDL? Can I replace it?
